The Yough Treehouse

ythfront

Yough Treehouse is located in the town of Confluence nestled in the Laurel Highlands Mountains. Our private home sits on 2 acres of land along the Youghiogheny River at the tailwaters of the dam. Surrounded by protected woods, at the end of a one lane road but within walking distance to town. We are 400 yds to the Great Allegheny Passage bike trail.

Our secluded, custom build home is well equipped and clean. The open floor plan in the kitchen/living area and large deck with grill make for ideal socializing. The house has lots of windows and is bright and cheery.
Yough Treehouse can accommodate up to 6 people. We have 2 bedrooms and an open loft for sleeping and 2 full baths. The master bedroom has a king sized bed and full bath including a claw foot tub. The second bedroom has 2 twins. And the loft has a queen sized bed.
The kitchen is well equipped with everything you’ll need. There is a gas grill on the deck. All linens and towels are provided. There is a TV/DVD, highspeed, wireless internet and free local calls.  Verizon/Sprint/AT&T cell phones work well from the house. The house has central A/C.
Our home is kid safe and there is a highchair and portacrib to use. With 4 distinct seasons, the house is available year round.

Without leaving our property you can enjoy the natural beauty of the area while relaxing on our spacious deck over looking the river. Or listen for geese, ducks and other birds on the flagstone patio with built in fire ring or while soaking the hot tub. Fly fish for trout in the well stocked tailwaters of the dam in our back yard. Watch for great blue heron, osprey or if you are lucky the bald eagles that fish here as well.

Make a day swimming and boating at the Yough Lake just around the corner. Take a break from your ride through from DC to Pittsburgh on the bike trail or spend the day biking shorter routes in either direction. Kayak or pick up a raft trip in nearby Ohiopyle. Make this the perfect retreat for trips to the 2 Frank Lloyd Wright homes Fallingwater and Kentuck Knob. We are centrally located to the ski resorts (Wisp, Seven Springs & Hidden Valley).

Whether you are looking for a romantic getaway, a family planning the ultimate recreational vacation or old friends looking for a quiet retreat our home is the perfect setting. For larger groups please consider the Riverhouse just down the road (sleeps 12).   Or consider renting both the Riverhouse and Treehouse. The houses are walking distance apart.
Come back year after year and explore the wonders of the Laurel Highlands.

FAQ:

What are the check in and out times?: Check in is at 3:00 pm and check out is 11:00 am.

Are linens and towels provided? Answer: Yes.

Are dish soaps, paper towels, tp provided? Answer: Yes.

Is there a grill? Answer: Yes, it’s propane (we keep it full and a spare tank).

Is there a grocery store in town? Answer: Yes, there is a well stocked Foodmart, Dollar General and a produce market in town.

Should we bring firewood for the outside fire pit? Answer: NO! It is not provided, but please gather dead wood on the property or purchase locally  to prevent the spreading of the Emerald Ash Borer. More info here: http://www.dontmovefirewood.org/what-you-can-do/activities/camping.html. There are many places around town that sell firewood, including the Foodmart.

Do we need 4WD to get to the house in the winter? Answer: No, the road to the house is well maintained. Although 4WD isn’t a bad idea in the mountains in the winter.

What about emergency pet care? Answer: We recommend Animal Medical Center in Somerset (35 min away). Phone: 814-443-6979.  If you call after hours, you will get a paging service and the doctor calls you back. Their site:  http://www.amcdocs.com/index.html. Also, a bit closer is the Animal Care Center at Nemacolin Resort (15-20 min). Phone: 724.329.2VET (2838) http://woodlandsanimalcarecenter.com/contact.aspx but we have no experience with them.
